Good news for some. MJR Performing Arts is going Overseas! :D To Beijing-Qingdao tentatively, 29 May to 5 June. 6-7 days trip. Cost is $1500, and it is opened to all levels(except the Sec 4s)! Do come on board, if you want to go! Cause I think many wants right? <- Much delayed trip alr. :D

Dear choir members,

please inform me if you are taking up NYAA or see me if you are keen to sign up for CIP programmes. We have a few CIP projects on hand. Please email me (ms.clarissao@gmail.com) or see me in school to let me know so that I can arrange with Mdm Tay for your participation.

(A) Dumpling Festival Celebrations (joint event with Eunos Crescent RC, Manjusri Sec and Tembusu Neighbourhood Link, TNL)on June 13 or 20 (date TBC with RC). *Highly Recommended

Note: rehearsals will only start after school official opening on the 22nd April. also, rehearsals will not continue during your mid year exams peiod. it will only resume in late May or early June.

(B) Teaching / Learning with Ederly at Interest Clubs at TNL (weekdays 3 to 5 pm, very ideal for after school programme)

You will go and join the elderly for the activities (social interaction) or teach them some lessons (Let me know if you are keen because we need inform TNL one or two weeks in advance, so that they can inform and prepare the elderly members).

Daily Interests:
Mon -- Singing Club (you can go sing with them and learn, they have instructor, or teach them some songs, esp English on one or two weeks) *Highly Recommended

Tue -- Learning Club (To teach elderly computer skills, conversational English, Chinese calligraphy, playing of Chinese Orchestra instruments)

Wed - Dancing (they have instructors, join in the dance or teach them new dances)

Thu -- Handicraft (Learn how to make Ang Pow decorative items for now, or quilt making (a dying skill) from the elderly, or teach them new crafts)

Fri -- Karaoke (Sing together with the elderly) *Recommended

Hello Choir! :) Yes, Physical Training (P.T) is resuming! Some might be looking forward to it and some might not. But as planned, we'll play catching on the coming Friday to come :) Nothing intensive so don't worry. We'll all have fun together.

Have your PE attire with you on Friday (31 July)
Report to the Music room at 2.10pm
Change into your PE attire before you come in cause we don't wanna waste time

Our dearest seniors has stepped down & I know many of you do miss them.

Like what Cheryl said in the previous post that some of you might dislike some of the committee members already because of reprimandings from us & stuffs.
But no matter what, someday you will know that we aren't picking on you.
Just like the past choir with Gauri around. Although we might get a lot of naggings & scolding from her but Choir still came so far yeah?

Bear in mind that no matter what we might say, we ain't picking on you! (:
Let's bond this batch of choir together again kay.

Choir has stopped for the Holidays. Rest well people & of course don't lose those strong voices!
I have to say that the choir sound so much more better last practice.

hey choir,

i know it's a bit late to thank you guys now since its already like weeks past farewell.
however,there are some things i have to explain clear to you and to give a few pieces of advice.

firstly,the sec ones and twos have to probably learn how to accept others and take criticism.The committee members are doing their utmost for your welfare,for the choir and of course,the school.some of you in this group do not like the committee members,learn to accept them.whatever they have said to you,it will benefit you in the long run,definitely.Many of you have spoken to me,i've told you my views and my advice.i hope you remember what i've said.If you cant take criticism and instructions,you will most probably not do well.Bearing grudges is one of the most horrible thing to do,and it takes energy too.rather than using up your energy to hate someone who is in the same CCA as you are in,why not use the energy to train your vocals and work hard as one choir?

next,to the committee.some of you have voiced out your feelings and thoughts to me.i understand,i have been through that as well.whatever the juniors do,whether it is right or wrong,tell them nicely.not reprimand them and then hate them for the rest of your lives.i'm not going to mention names here,but as a committee member,part of your job is still to maintain the bond between the whole choir and not break people up into groups of friends.as one choir,you should work hard together.Share fun,joy,peace and laughter together.if they have done wrong,tell them,in a nice manner not in a rude manner,and worse still,bearing a grudge against them.like the same i've said before to some of you,treat choir as your children,you wont want to hate your children,do you?i've also mentioned to those who have spoken to me in the sec one and twos,CCA is one thing that you will remember for life,let the scrapbook of memories be a good one,not a horrible one.remember,love the choir,forgive and forget.

Hey choir,

Thanks for the wonderful farewell that you guys had planned for us. On behalf of the seniors, I would like to thank the committee members and choir members who had put in their effort in making the gifts. We really appreciate it.

The choir has come a long way and I am glad that I am stepping down feeling fully satisfied and have no regrets. Of course, this journey would not have been possible without the support of my committee members and all the other choir members who respected me. There were times that I had to reprimand a number of you and the lecturing sessions were probably a hassle but I guess it was necessary. I'm sorry if I had offended anybody.

We are one choir and it is important that we remain as a choir. The seniors may not be there to mentor you anymore and it may be hard to cooperate as a choir but do remember that nothing ventured is nothing gained. I really hope that during this period you will take the fullest opportunity to understand one another and cherish choir as far as possible. You will never know the true feeling of success unless you are ready for failures.

Well, committee members, I wish you all the best in your future endeavors managing the choir and proving yourselves as capable leaders. On a note of suggestion, it'll be good if you sit as a choir one day and brainstorm on the goals that you people want to achieve before the next SYF. Remember, this is the time to start working for the next SYF and the first step to this would be discipline. I know it may sound pretty demanding but you can be disciplined and have fun at the same time. You can be the MOM of the school.

On an ending note, thank you choir for providing me with all the wonderful memories that we spent together. (Whether it was the tiring yet fun P.T, the nagging sessions, the MOM speeches or force-hugging by a few of you.)

By the way, about the crazy business on some random 'lousy choir', it shouldn't bother you guys too much. What matters most is that you guys remember to remain as a choir and face all adversities with determination. "ONE FOR ALL, ALL FOR ONE" (:

Mrs Erp has invited a dance instructor to come to our school next Wednesday.

From 3.45pm to 5.45pm he will be here. He is the one who taught us the dance for Summertime before. So I hope that there will be no absentees next Wednesday alright? (:

Lastly, we've decided to have each section making gifts for the seniors in the section.

Friday was a job well done. I'm very proud of all of you. Our hard work and resilience paid off and we achieved what we wanted. We are a small choir but we have proved ourselves well enough and made everyone proud of us. We performed above Mrs. Erp' expectations and that's a job well done. However, this would not have been possible without the support of our teachers, Mrs. Tan, Mrs. Leong and Ms. Wang, those seniors who actually came back to help us, the school, and last but not least, most importantly, Mrs. Michelle Erp, our conductor.

we've given out the costumes for this performance on the 19 september 2008(friday).You are expected to wash it ,iron with COLD iron and bring it on 27/9/08.

On 27/9:1.get your hair bunned up before coming to school
2.ALL fringe to be clipped up,or else we will do it for you.

The performance and the attitude of this choir is getting worse.Despite having the offence book,rules are being broken time and again.The seniors are putting in their 200% effort but all of you dont even care.

What is All this about quitting?if you want to quit,you people shouldnt have joined choir in the first place.If you think you are very good,i am so so so sorry to say that you are not.All the airy voices,the flat voices and the UNMEMORISED notes,its very tough to teach all of you.

please,put in more effort,we'll appreciate it ALOT!

The choir has come up with an offence book. This
particular book has to be taken of very seriously.
The committee members of the choir had a meeting
on 8/7/2008 and came up with this idea after great
consideration. The purpose of the offence book is
mainly to discipline the choir members and develop a
sense of concentration during choir practices. From
now on, after each choir practice, members have to
each sing one by on a section of the song they've learnt
during the practice. This is to ensure that the members
have learnt the song properly. Issues were raised during
the meeting such as:

- Members are too playful
- Members fail to cooperate with leaders
- Members are talking/playing during practices
- Lack of concentration
- Members do not have self-discipline

Taking all these into consideration, all choir members
will be now monitored very closely and attendance is
looked at very seriously. Members who fail to report
for choir practices without any valid reasons will be
dealt with from now on. Excuses such as, 'I have extra
classes elsewhere' will not be taken into account and
will be considered as skipping choir.

Offences include:

1) Did not bring score
2) Talking/playing during practice including sectionals
3) Bringing sweet beverages in the rooms
4) Skipping choir
5) Using handphone during practices
6) Improper attire
7) Use of vulgarities
8) Late for choir practices
9) Late for choir after breaks
10) Fooling around during sectionals
11) Disrespecting members/leaders

New offences may be added based on observance.
This a last and final warning to all choir members
that as long as choir practice is on, you have to
jollywell report for it without giving any excuses.

Our attitudes control our lives. Attitudes are a secret power working twenty-four hours a day, for good or bad. It is of paramount importance that we know how to harness and control this great force.

Hello!

They're some updates as to what is the program like for the choir workshop from 16-18 June 2008. E-mails were sent out to all choir members and a file was attached to it as well. In case you have not read it, some of the information is below. However, please do check your e-mail as there are some important details as well.

Bring a pen or pencil.
Check and bring all the necessary clothes you need. Be properly attired and wear proper shoes for the games.
Bring enough money for lunch.
Attendance for all 3 days of the workshop is very important. The instructors we get for hip hop and the facial and body expression will be paid by the school. If you cannot make it for any of the 3 days, eg. prefects cannot make it on Day 3,
let Mrs Yong, Mrs Tan or Mrs Leong know.

Objectives

Choir members to :

develop strong bond with all members
develop sense of camaraderie and to work as a team
use facial and body expression during singing
learn what to do before a competition or performance

Sectional leaders to :

learn how to lead their sections
develop ability to detect and correct mistakes in singing
In order that the 3-day workshop is beneficial and fruitful, every member of the choir must participate in all the activities enthusiastically and attentively.

Points to take note of:

As the choir orange polo-T is to be worn for both days, it is advisable to change into a clean PE T-shirt before going home at the end of Day 1.
Have breakfast before coming to school everyday.
Lunch will be on your own expense.
Biscuits will be provided during the breaks.
Bring water bottles and remember to fill with water during all breaks.
